What are the limitations of feminicide databases? What new perspectives are developed by women’s movements? What impact do they have on the State?

The identification of femicides is no easy task as not all the murders of women are femicides. It is necessary to investigate the circumstances and dynamics of the crimes to recognize the unequal relationships of power between men and women that undergird a femicide.

The fifth edition of “Feminicide: A Global Phenomenon” covers topics such as feminicide in different countries, the recent call of the UN-Rapporteur and the absolute criminalization of abortion.

Feminicides refer to cases in which the victims women, after experiencing continuous discrimination throughout their lives, are killed because they are. Going beyond the emblematic cases in Mexico and Guatemala, this publication offers a regional perspective on feminicide in Latin America. It gives voice to prominent women activists, academics, human rights defenders and civil society.
