Gerhard Schick
Memeber of the German Bundestag

Gerhard Schick, a member of the German Parliament for Alliance 90/The Greens since October 2005, is currently the Green Parliamentary Group’s spokesperson for financial policy and a member of the Parliament’s Committee on Finance. He also serves in the Federal executive council of his party and is the spokesperson for his party’s working group on economic and financial policy. A political economist by trade with a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Freiburg (Germany), Dr. Schick is one of the most outspoken members of the German parliament in proposing regulatory reforms for the German and European banking and finance sector. Some of his more recent publications and speeches in the Bundestag have dealt with the shortcomings in the management of the financial crisis in Germany and Europe, the need for stronger regulatory oversight of banks or the prospects for a regional financial transaction tax in Europe.
