Dr. Kyung-Joo Jeon

Dr. Kyung-Joo Jeon is a Research Fellow in the Center for Foreign Policy and National Security at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies. Her primary research interests include North Korean foreign and military affairs, the ROK–U.S. extended deterrence cooperation, and South Korean defence strategy. Prior to joining the Asan Institute, Dr. Jeon served as Chief of the Korean Peninsula Security Research Division and as a Research Fellow at the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses (KIDA). She served as a Policy Advisor to the National Security Office and the Ministry of Unification, and was also a Visiting Expert at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) and a Visiting Fellow at the National Defense University (NDU). Dr. Jeon received her B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in Political Science and International Relations from Korea University. She also holds an M.Sc. in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
