Anna Ackermann is a policy analyst for IISD’s Energy team working on green reconstruction of Ukraine. With a background in energy, environmental policy, and just transition, she supports European organizations designing approaches to Ukraine’s sustainable post-war recovery and development.
Anna is a founding member of the Center for Environmental Initiatives Ecoaction, where she worked as head of the climate department and currently serves as a board member. In cooperation with international and Ukrainian partners, she supported work on just transition for coal regions.
Before joining IISD, Anna also managed the Energy Policy Reform expert group for Ukraine's largest civil society platform, Reanimation Package of Reforms. Through this work, she contributed to the establishment of the Energy Efficiency Fund and to electricity and building sector reforms.
Anna holds a joint master’s degree in environmental sciences, policy, and management from Central European University, The University of Manchester, and Lund University. She also holds a master’s degree in power engineering from the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute." She speaks English, Ukrainian, French, and German.
