Manfred Hornung was Director of the Global Support for Democracy Unit at the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung from October 2020 until December 2024. He started working for the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung in 2011 heading the Phnom Penh Office. From 2013 until 2020 he was Director of the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung’s Southeast Asia Regional Office in Bangkok covering the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Prior to that, he worked at the Supreme Court of Laos in the realm of an United Nation’s judicial project as well as for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the non-governmental human rights organization LICADHO in Cambodia. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Law from the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra.
