Between 2009 and 2020, Mirko Schwärzel worked in various functions for the European work of the Federal Network for Civic Engagement (BBE), most recently as head of the European network point of the BBE. After two years as a freelance project consultant, he has been coordinating the "Diakonie Netzwerk Europa" as a consultant at Diakonie Germany since August 2022.
