Mawa Karambiri serves as policy and technical engagement specialist for the Sahel in the Regreening Africa Project, at the World Agroforestry Centre (CIFOR-ICRAF), based in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Before joining ICRAF, she was a postdoctoral researcher in the Chair of International Forest Policy at the University of Helsinki, Finland, where she also completed her PhD degree in Forest Sciences. She is a visiting scholar at the University of Helsinki. Her research interests concern sustainability, forest governance, land restoration, gender inequality and social justice. She has a background in sociology.
