J. W. Mason is an Associate Professor of Economics at John Jay College, City University of New York. He is also a Fellow at the Roosevelt Institute and has a PhD in Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. His research and teaching is primarily in macroeconomics. His current research focuses on the historical evolution of debt in various sectors of the US economy, and the interface between balance sheet positions and real economic activity.
