Dawid Danilo Bartelt has been the director of the Turkey office of the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Istanbul since February 2023. From 2017 to 2022 he headed the office in Mexico. From 2010 to 2016 he was the director of the Brazil office in Rio de Janeiro.

He studied in Bochum, Hamburg, Recife (Brazil), and Berlin, and holds a master's degree and doctorate in History. Bartelt has worked as a journalist, editor, and academic lecturer. From 2002 to 2010, he was the Senior Press Officer of the German division of Amnesty International.
