Charlotte Beck joined our Washington office as Program Director for Foreign & Security Policy in December 2013. The program fosters transatlantic exchange on regional and global security challenges with a particular focus on the broader Middle East. Charlotte has gained substantial experience in the region, including extended research and language studies in Jerusalem and Cairo. A particular interest of hers focuses on cross-cultural and inter-confessional conflict and reconciliation.
Prior to joining the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung, Charlotte worked on issues related to Freedom of Expression and Privacy Protection at the German Commission for UNESCO. She holds a B.A. Summa Cum Laude in Government and Diplomacy from the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya and a M.Sc. in Global Governance and International Diplomacy from the University of Oxford.
