Adam Tooze holds the Shelby Cullom Davis chair of History at Columbia University and serves as Director of the European Institute. In 2019, Foreign Policy Magazine named him one of the top Global Thinkers of the decade. After studying economics at Cambridge and the Free University of Berlin and earning a doctorate in economic history at the London School of Economics, Tooze taught history at Cambridge University. He is the author of numerous studies on German and economic history, and his work has won many awards. His latest book is “Shutdown: How Covid Shook the World’s Economy is on sale now”.
