Maarten Van Alstein

Maarten Van Alstein (°1978) works as a researcher at the Flemish Peace Institute, an independent institute dedicated to peace research and hosted by the Flemish Parliament in Brussels. Within the institute’s programme on ‘Peace & society’ he conducts research on the politics of memory and the remembrance of war and political violence. Before joining the Peace Institute in 2010, he worked at the University of Antwerp, where he did research on Belgium and the origins of the Cold War.
