Hannah El-Hitami is a freelance journalist based in Berlin. She writes mostly about sociopolitical topics from the Arab world, migration and international justice. After studying political sciences and Arabic literature & culture in Marburg, she moved to Berlin and worked for the Amnesty Journal from 2016-2018. Her work still focuses on human rights issues, especially political prisoners in West Asia and North Africa. She writes in German and English, and speaks Arabic fluently. Her articles have been published in SPIEGEL, TAZ, Justice Info, Fluter, Amnesty Journal, Greenpeace Magazin, Qantara and Zenith among others. She writes a regular column for dis:orient.
