In English | Auf Deutsch

With the European Green Deal, the European energy transition has taken a major step forward. However, in view of the current high energy prices and cost of living, as well as the consequences of war and the pandemic, voices are now getting louder that see climate protection as a luxury that we can no longer afford. Yet the consequences of climate change are becoming ever more glaring. In order to advance the European energy transition and distribute the costs and benefits more fairly, the EU must find better steering instruments. This policy paper provides recommendations for the necessary acceleration of the European energy transition.
