Ricardo Cabral is assistant professor of Economics, former Vice President (Vice-Rector), and former Economics and Management Department Head of the University of Madeira, Portugal. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of South Carolina. His recent macroeconomic research focuses on the euro crisis, on banking, EMU architecture and governance and on sovereign debt restructuring. He has published several articles and policy papers and since 2011 participated as a speaker in over 50 conferences about these topics. He is the co-author of two different proposals to restructure Portugal’s debt, one of which as a member of Government Working Group on the sustainability of Portugal’s debt. He is one of the three authors of the daily newspaper Público blog TudoMenosEconomia.
