Inken Bartels works as a research assistant at the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS) at the University of Osnabrück. She researches changing migration and border regimes in North and West Africa and the role of international actors and policies in this field. She wrote her PhD on migration management practices in Morocco and Tunisia at the Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences at the Humboldt University in Berlin and previously studied political science at the Free University in Berlin.
