Heinrich Böll is one of the most important and best-known writers of the Federal Republic of Germany. "Bound by the times and my contemporaries, to what my generation has lived through, experienced, seen, and heard," as he himself wrote, he was the critical chronicler of Germany’s history at mid-century
The Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung European Union represents the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung in relation to European and international institutions, associations, non-governmental organisations, and media based in Brussels. Main areas of our activities are European policies, along with energy and climate policy, and the promotion of democracy and human rights. We work in close collaboration with the other offices of the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung, emphasising the European vantage point of our activities. In addition, the office is a main point of contact for individuals and groups from Europe and around the world interested in politics, helping people understand European politics and policies and highlighting political involvement.
Our activities include organising events such as Böll Lunch Debates involving a broad range of EU stakeholders, expert roundtables and conferences, visitor programmes, EU-focused capacity building sessions, and specific topic related publications presenting ideas and concepts to serve as a basis for discussion. The development and implementation of EU projects in strategic partnerships with local partners is also an important aspect of our work.
