Ilke Toygür
PhD Candidate

İlke Toygür is a political scientist and European affairs analyst. She is a PhD candidate at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Department of Political Science and International Relations and a Mercator-IPC Fellow at Istanbul Policy Centre, Sabanci University. She received an MA in Political Science from the ‘Democracy and Government’ programme at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, as well as an MA in Economics from Sabanci University, Istanbul, and a BA in Economics from Hacettepe University, Ankara. Her academic research areas include multilevel political representation, political parties and elections in Europe. She teaches various courses including ‘Elections and Political Behaviour’ and ‘Politics and Government in the European Union’ both in English and in Spanish. Prior to seeking her PhD, she worked for more than two years in the Economic Development Foundation (IKV), a think tank focusing on the European Union and EU-Turkey relations. She has been a visiting researcher in the European University Institute, Florence, and MZES, University of Mannheim. In addition to her academic research, she writes articles for various European think tanks, newspapers and periodicals.
